The SIGNPOSTS Story
SIGNPOSTS began with a passion: to promote well-being for everyone. Sounds pretty ambitious, I know! But why not dream big?
I started the work decades ago as a Baptist pastor. In three churches I learned so much about how people want to do good things yet struggle with deep shadows and fears inside. The years brought many good times serving the folks in Beaver, OK, Lawton, OK, and Amarillo, TX. Family life with my wife, Jan, brought joy in helping four children navigate growing up and taking their wings.
In 2002 I shifted my work to hospital chaplaincy. Wow, what an education those 16 years brought me! I supervised a dozen people working with suffering, death, and joy all around. I began a professional counseling practice during this time, walking with many who struggled to find answers.
During the last 10 years, counseling, writing and media creation have extended this work of helping folks. I discovered the fields of progressive Christian theology, positive psychology and justice ethics could make a great combination towards the goal of well-being.
